Nightwater: All Memories Location Guide

Every memory in Nightwater sits in a spot you probably walked right past your first time through. Some hide behind rocks you can phase through, and a few only exist after you have already “finished” the game once. This guide walks through all sixteen memories in the order they appear at the memory table in spawn, plus the exact steps to reach the four endings that hand you the last handful.

Miss one and the table just shows a “???” entry, so nothing is permanently lost if you play out of order. Here is the full breakdown, grouped the way the game groups them: six main story memories, five minigame memories, one ending memory, and three alternative ending memories.

How the Memory Table Works

The memories below appear at the spawn table in a fixed sequence rather than a “collect in this order” checklist, so grab them in whatever order suits your playthrough. A couple of things worth knowing before you start hunting:

  • Prior to patch 1.0.13, the ending memories were invisible at the memory table. That bug is now fixed, so fully updated players see all sixteen entries.
  • Unlocking the final three memories also swaps out the lighthouse in the main menu background.

Main Story Memories

These six arrive naturally as you manifest each island type for the first time. They are effectively unmissable, but the exact spawn point of each one matters if you want to grab it the same trip you call the island in.

Memory Location Prerequisites How to Get It
Welcome Spawn room None Awarded automatically the moment you begin a new game.
Loop Mountain island Ability to manifest Mountain island Manifest the first Mountain island; the memory sits dead center.
Demands Desert island Ability to manifest Desert island Manifest the first Desert island; it appears beside the stone pillar in the middle.
Success Snowy Hills island Ability to manifest Snowy Hills island Manifest Snowy Hills; the memory is in the center, up on the higher tier.
Choices Volcano island Ability to manifest Volcano island Manifest the far-left Volcano island. The memory rests on the far left, in front of the five stacked shipping containers.
Lighthouse Starlight Fields Ability to manifest Starlight Fields Manifest the last Starlight Fields island; the memory sits directly in front of the lighthouse.

Minigame Memories

This is where the hunt actually gets interesting. All five of these are tucked behind walls or scenery you are meant to phase through, and two of them require specific unlocks before the spot even exists. Several of the minigames connect to your broader progression via Boons, so it pays to have those squared away before you start probing geometry.

Memory Location Hint How to Get It
Useless Dark Thicket Minigame Don’t look close, look up and into the distance. Enter and turn directly right. Walk into the rock sitting to the right of the stack of logs to phase through it into a hidden area holding the memory.
More The Mine Something is different, but only when you’re down far enough. Dig to the very bottom and clear each corner. One wall beside a corner shows dark cracks; walk into it to phase through and reveal the memory.
Dust Oasis You’ll need some coin to complete this. Unlock the 3rd area in the Oasis. The memory hides behind the 3rd shop.
Contract Fuel Shortage It’s worthwhile exploring every part of the arena. Enter Fuel Shortage with any loadout and find the building with a stack of logs beside it (usually straight ahead from spawn). The memory is behind the logs, but it does not trigger immediately — you can only collect it after leaving the minigame.
Exchange Data Rush Something is out of place down low. Reach the 2nd speedrun level with blue platforms unlocked (double jump helps). Jump to the moving platform on the left at the start, then aim for the hidden platform jutting from the bottom of the wall just above the lava between the two wall-run pads. Phase through to grab the memory.

Editor Warning: The Contract memory is the one that trips most players up. It will not pop while you are inside the Fuel Shortage arena. Once you exit, look above the campfire you used to enter the minigame — the memory spawns there and you have to jump to reach it. If you walked away frustrated thinking the spot was bugged, this is why.

Ending Memory: Moving On

The first ending memory falls right into your lap as long as you finish the base game. Manifest every island, complete the red and blue keys to unlock the lighthouse, then enter the lighthouse and head down to the basement to collect Satisfaction. Return to spawn and the door behind your starting point will now be open — drop through the hole and you land in a final area containing the Moving On memory. That is the standard ending, so treat it as your completionist launchpad.

Nothing More: Second Ending

This one demands genuine 100% completion and cannot be attempted before the first ending is done.

Editor Warning:
Nothing More is locked behind finishing Moving On first, and you also need every single entry in the “Unlocks” tab. Press X or use a research table to audit your progress. Missing even one unlock leaves the stone torches dark and the ending unavailable.

The unlock counts you must hit are:

  • Forest — 23
  • Mountain — 23
  • Desert — 17
  • Snowy Hills — 24
  • Volcano — 14
  • Starlight Fields — 14

With all of those complete, the six stone torches on the ground at the start will be lit. Then simply replay the ending route the same way as before: lighthouse basement, grab Satisfaction, return to spawn, drop into the hole. The second ending triggers and drops the Nothing More memory.

Fear: Third Ending

The third ending builds directly on the first two and introduces a map-wide torch-lighting task.

Editor Warning:
Fear requires both Moving On and Nothing More to be completed first. To light each new torch you must hold E for 5 seconds — a quick tap does nothing, which is an easy mistake if you are moving fast.

Completing the second ending spawns a set of stone torches across the world. Light all six, and you are teleported into a maze. Solving that maze leads to the memory and the ending. Here is where every torch sits:

  • Forest — to the left of the entrance to the Dark Thicket Minigame.
  • Mountain — far right-hand cave, on the left beside the entrance to the middle cave.
  • Desert — on top of the stairs of the two-story house.
  • Snowy Hills — far right-hand side, down behind the two tents (not the tents with the fire).
  • Volcano — back right of the middle island, beneath the slanted shipping container leaning against another one.
  • Lighthouse / Starlight Fields — behind the back of the lighthouse.

Once all six torches are lit you are warped to the maze. For orientation purposes, the maze is not perfectly to scale — especially the random dead ends — but the layout still works as a guide. The south path is the cleanest way to get your bearings. Solve it and the Fear memory is yours. If you have been working through the Volcano Minigame challenges, this is a natural point to fold that progress into your route.

Acceptance: Fourth Ending

The final memory closes a loop that has been visible since early on.

Editor Warning:
Acceptance requires the first, second, and third endings — Moving On, Nothing More, and Fear — all completed before the door will open.

Return to the location of the Exchange memory: the 2nd level of the Speed Run minigame, taking the moving platform on the left and looking for the hidden platform between the wall-run panels just above the lava. That door, shut for your entire journey, is now open. Walk through it and you are teleported to the final memory and the last ending of the game. That is every entry in the memory table accounted for, including the menu lighthouse swap that comes with the last three.

Conclusion

Sixteen memories, four endings, and the satisfying click of a fully populated memory table. If you are chasing the altered main menu lighthouse, lock in the final three endings and then take a look at the background — that is your proof the whole journey is done.
