I put this together because the synergy grid in Wielders of the Essence genuinely took me a while to read properly, and I figured other players might be hitting the same wall. Below is every combination I have found so far — which abilities feed into it, what it actually does, and the exact bonus the right-hand panel shows you. I am still missing three fusions from the section, so I will keep adding to this as I track them down.
One thing worth knowing before you dive in: the grid layout confused me at first. To locate an entry, find the highlighted square and count from the left within its row — and yes, you count the black squares too. So Trail of Embers, for example, sits in the seventh slot of the bottom row. This tripped me up for longer than I’d like to admit, so double-check your count before assuming something is missing.
In each entry, Requirements is the combination shown in the tooltip, the first effect explains what the ability does and who benefits, and the second effect gives you the exact bonus from the right-hand panel. I’ve split everything into the top and bottom rows the way the grid lays them out.
Reading the Ability Grid Without Losing Your Mind
The counting rule is genuinely the part that costs people the most time. You’re not counting only the highlighted or filled squares — every square in the row matters, black ones included. If a slot looks empty, that doesn’t mean it’s skipped when you tally. Once I started counting every box from the left, the whole grid clicked into place for me, and I stopped second-guessing which combination was which.

Top Row Synergies
| Slot | Ability | Requirements | Effect 1 | Effect 2 |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 (#1) | Widened Eye | Hunter + Shaman | Spells and allied attacks gain Area. | +20% Area |
| 2 (#2) | Digesting Earth | Crawler + Tremor | Tremors poison every enemy they hit with corrosive bile. | — |
| 3 (#3) | Driven Herd | Tremor + Ravager | You and your troops deal more Damage. | +20% Damage |
| 4 (#4) | Trained Pack | Ravager + Hunter | Ravagers deal more Damage. | +20% Damage |
| 5 (#5) | Hissing Ground | Shaman + Crawler | Corrosive puddles form near the Shaman when foes get close. | — |
| 6 (#15) | Storm-Touched | Hunter + Rigor | Hunters deal more Damage. | +20% Damage |
| 7 (#6) | Diligent Study | Eth’dra + Learning | Eth’dra periodically drop XP as they fight. | — |
| 8 (#7) | Exalted Chant | Eth’dra + Shaman + Fury | The Shaman’s chant upgrades Eth’dra attacks. | — |
| 9 (#8) | Cutpurse Swarm | Crawler + Greed | Crawler attacks drop gold and, on rare occasions, treasure chests. | — |
Notice that Storm-Touched sits in the sixth slot but carries the #15 label — this is exactly the kind of thing that makes the numbering look scrambled if you assume slot order and entry number run in lockstep. They don’t, so I’d suggest trusting the slot count and using the number only as an ID.

Bottom Row Synergies
| Slot | Ability | Requirements | Effect 1 | Effect 2 |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 (#9) | Scavenger’s Reach | Ravager + Gathering | Ravagers gain extra Pickup Radius. | +7.5m Pickup Range |
| 2 (#10) | Roaring Chant | Shaman + Brutality | The Shaman’s attacks deal more Damage. | +100% Damage |
| 3 (#11) | Cheekham’s Lesson | Hunter + Cheekham | Hunters gain Destruction Essence. | — |
| 4 (#12) | Borrowed Edge | Eth’dra + Arcane Spear | Eth’dra projectiles gain extra Pierce. | +1 Projectile Pierces |
| 5 (#13) | Brood-Mother’s Call | Crawler + P’Cha | The brood-mother periodically surfaces to crush the densest pack of foes. | — |
| 7 (#14) | Trail of Embers | Ravager + Firewalk | While Firewalk is active, every Ravager leaves a trail of fire behind it. | — |
| 9 (#16) | Unleashed Essence | R’Lac + any spell | Each spell R’Lac holds grants Essence of its own kind. | — |
That gap you see at slot 6 and slot 8 is not a listing error on my part — those spots are where the three fusions I haven’t locked down yet belong, and I’ll fill them in once I do. If you’re cross-referencing against your own grid and something looks empty, check whether it’s one of those blanks before you assume you’ve misread the count.
The entries that carry a blank in the second-effect column aren’t missing bonus data — they simply don’t have a numeric bonus shown in the right-hand panel, so I’ve left them as they appear rather than guess at a number. Everything else here is copied straight from what the tooltips and panels display.
Quick Notes on the Combinations That Mattered to Me
A few of these stood out while I was assembling the list. Roaring Chant giving +100% Damage to the Shaman is the single biggest multiplier in the set, which makes Brutality a natural pairing to chase. If you’re running a Ravager-heavy build, Trained Pack and Driven Herd stack nicely as a damage foundation, and Scavenger’s Reach with its +7.5m Pickup Range genuinely changed how much loot I was sweeping up without thinking about it.
The three-ability fusions like Exalted Chant (Eth’dra + Shaman + Fury) are the ones I’d flag as easiest to overlook, simply because they need one more piece than the pairs around them. And Unleashed Essence is the odd one out — it works with any spell R’Lac holds, so you have more flexibility there than the fixed pairings elsewhere.
I’ll be honest: cross-referencing every tooltip against the panel took more patience than I expected, but having it laid out by row and slot makes the grid far less intimidating than it looks on first pass. If you spot one of the three I’m missing, that’s the gap I’m still chasing.
