I’ve seen the same question come up again and again in the community: how are some of these leaderboard times even possible without cheating? I wanted to put my own answer out there, because I lived it. At one point I held the number one spot on the 1.1 version with a time of 11m 03s, and I’ve routinely landed sub-20-minute runs. This isn’t a claim that my approach is the best or the most optimized route — I just genuinely enjoyed this game and wanted to walk through how I got there honestly.
Before anything else, let me be upfront. Cheating happens, and I know it. Very early on someone posted a time of 47s, and yes, I believe that’s cheating. I’m not here to explain how that’s done or how it should be policed. Exploits are murkier — for example, the 1.0 ability to save and quit to reset certain cooldowns absolutely existed. Whether that should count in a timed run is your call to make. My strategy below doesn’t intentionally exploit bugs, though some folks might consider a thing or two I describe as outside intended use. Judge for yourself; I’d rather be transparent than pretend.
How I Think About the Nodes
I’ve played a wide variety of builds and enjoyed most of them, but that doesn’t mean every node is created equal. My opinions here assume the current finish line of gathering all one million coins and depositing them.
If you’re on the 1.0 version and simply want the time achievement, the path is straightforward: take all the left-side chute upgrades, then the right-side chute upgrades (overdrive), then all the goldrush nodes in the deposit tree. That combination should auto-drain the entire map in under 30 minutes.

On 1.1 the nodes break into three groups: gathering coins, capacity, and depositing coins.
For gathering, every tool — hand, shovel, magnet — has pros and cons, but I’ve found the hands to be the best overall. For genuinely fast times, manual gathering is just too slow, which makes speed, width, strike, and lightning upgrades less valuable than options that let you dump huge bursts at once. The double grab active in the hand tree scales off a percentage, so a massive capacity turns each use into something devastating — I was pulling over 25k per cast by the end.
Capacity’s main early purpose is avoiding manual deposits entirely, and later it’s what inflates that percentage on the hand active. Depositing is the same story as gathering: doing it by hand is far too slow for top times. In my best run I only had 663 seconds on the clock, so burning even 15–30 seconds depositing coins is a non-starter. Auto collection — chute and portable bank — is the best early answer, with auto deposit in the utility tree taking over late game. Since the utility pump is percentage-based, it keeps pace with your capacity and can effectively hold the full vault.

The Map Is Not One Pile
Here’s the thing I wish someone had told me earlier: the map isn’t a single mound of coins. It’s really about five piles sitting near each other. For simplicity I call them middle, top (opposite the elevator), Left, Right (outside the railings), and Elevator.
If you gather only from the middle and look around, you should spot four outer shafts of coins ringing you. Gathering those shafts from the top is far more efficient — working from the bottom or side blocks lightning and certain active abilities from taking full effect. As your build powers up, keep reminding yourself to knock down those four outer shafts instead of tunneling on the middle.
The Run Itself (1.1, Post-Rebalance)
Early game: when the run starts, do the only thing available and grab the first 25 coins. My first point went into the first chute upgrade — 1/s isn’t much, but it beats grabbing by hand. Turn in your capacity and keep manually grabbing. The goal here is rushing toward portable bank (3 points), so every point goes into faster deposits while you dump your tiny capacity. You should only need to turn in around twice. The moment you hit your fourth point (1 chute, 3 deposit), place the portable bank — it pulls 1000 coins per second and will blow past your manual gathering by a wide margin.
Mid game — roughly 3–5 minutes in, when the bank goes down. The bank carries the heavy load now, but you can still support it. Your job in this stretch is balancing gathering speed against capacity so you collect as much as possible without ever needing to deposit. I grabbed the first three big cap upgrades on the left side, then ghost hand 1 in the middle hands tree, a few more capacity nodes as needed, then flow on the left hand tree. The active is still weak at this point, so chasing it isn’t worth it yet. Keep taking capacity until the full left tree is done, then look to pivot to the grab active.
Late game — around 8–10 minutes, once the grab active comes online. From here it’s usually worth running down its entire tree for as much percentage increase as you can stack. The middle capacity tree is also fair game now, pushing capacity toward roughly 800k by the end. As best I can work out, the main buffs to the hand active are capacity size (for the percentage), hand gather size from the other two lines, and the ghost hands themselves seem to help a lot — though I can’t tell if that’s just a side effect of coin volume or the ghosts firing the active too. Each cast should gather between 10k and 25k, and you’ll start earning multiple upgrade points per use. I recommend filling capacity first, then the middle and left hand lines, and finally sinking points into auto deposit (up to 25%) and chutes.
One habit to keep front of mind: the active can gather so many coins that it fully drains a section, and it will fail if coins sit above your target. Drain sections too fast and you may need to walk back up — which is painfully slow — just to reach the others. Early to mid run, make a point of hitting each section from the top so you don’t carve out an empty middle bowl.

Conclusion
That’s the honest version of how I got my times — nothing hidden, nothing exploited on purpose. If you take one thing from this, let it be the section-draining habit, because that’s the mistake that cost me the most time. Good luck shaving those minutes down.
