The current save/load UI is a placeholder. On the coming update the Dev will be starting to modify/replace existing UI to make things clearer and more convenient. Part of that is making save slots more manageable, having multiple auto-save files, and also allow deleting save files, though the save/load UI will probably fixed only on the update after that one.
