Baking in Songs of Glimmerwick is one of those quiet systems that sneaks up on you. I started messing around with Flour and a Watering Can expecting nothing, and suddenly I was running a full bread operation out of the The Etchery. This page is my running record of every baked good I have worked out so far, along with the ingredients, what they sell for, and whether the whole thing is actually worth your time. It is still growing, so expect more entries as I get around to filling the gaps.
How Baking Works
The process looks simple on paper, but there are a couple of steps where I fumbled around before it clicked. Follow it in order and you will save yourself the confusion I went through.

First, you need Flour. There are two ways to get it. You can buy it straight from the Miller for 20 Petals each, or you can grind Wheat yourself in a Wheatmill — Wheat seeds cost 20 Petals each, and the Wheatmill schematic can be purchased for 650 Petals from Wisk — Practical Practice.
Once you have Flour, open your hotbar or inventory and click-and-drop the Flour onto your Watering Can. This turns it into Dough. Make sure the Watering Can actually has water in it or nothing will happen — I wasted a good few clicks on an empty can before I noticed.
To combine the Dough with an ingredient, click-and-drop any ingredient onto the Dough. If that ingredient can be baked, it becomes a [Ingredient name] Dough.
The last step is baking. Head to one of the cooking locations below, interact with the fire, and deposit your Dough or [Ingredient name] Dough there. The batch cooks gradually over time, and the finished product appears in the right slot. Whatever you do, do not right click the end product — you will eat it on the spot and lose the whole thing. I learned that the annoying way.
Cooking Locations
Here is where you can actually bake. Note that a couple of these are not open from the start, so plan around them if you are early in your run.
- The Etchery — Common Room
- The Etchery — Library
- Wisk — The Cup & Kettle (inaccessible until Summer)
- The Ochre Woods — Hideout (quest locked — Ghost Treasure)
The Cacophony Curse and the Miller
There is a nasty little wrinkle here that will catch you off guard if you do not know about it in advance. Once the Cacophony Curse is introduced — which kicks off the Cursed Mill task — the Miller stops selling Flour and Wheat entirely. If you were leaning on the Miller for a steady supply, get ready to go without for a while.
To resolve The Cursed Mill, follow the white footprints to find the Miller’s goblin hiding on the beach. You will need the Melody of Stones — obtained by freeing Codrin from the fairy ring in the Ochre Woods — plus one Ungrowth Potion to access the mountain and progress the task.
After the curse is broken, the Miller returns and sells 5 Flour for 800 Petals. That is a different rate than before, and at the time of writing I am still watching to see how long that price actually sticks around.
Baked Goods and Profit Table
A quick note on how I am reading these numbers: profit is calculated as Price − (20 [Wheat price] − [Ingredient Base Price]), and it does not factor in the bonus sale you can get from the skill tree. So what you see here is the baseline, not the ceiling. Everything except the first entry is an ingredient combined with Dough.
| Earliest Season | Ingredient | Ingredient Base Price | Baked Product | Price | Effects | Profit |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Spring | Dough | 15 | Bread | 30 | +18 Mana | 10 |

Reading the Profit Numbers
A few things jump out at me when I look at this list. Fisherman’s Pie from Catfish is the standout at a profit of 27, which makes sense given how cheap the base ingredient is and how strongly the baked product sells. Veggie Hand Pie from Wild Leeks sits just behind at 22, and Cucumber Sandwich at 20 is another one I keep coming back to in Summer.
The one that stings is Blueberry Muffin. Blueberry is a Spring only ingredient priced at 55, but the muffin only sells for 60, which lands you at a loss of -15. I would not touch that one for profit — the numbers simply do not work unless you are baking it for some other reason.
If you are also juggling other crafting and music systems in Glimmerwick, this flutes guide pairs well with what is going on here, since both rely on the same seasonal ingredient rhythm.
Still Adding Entries
This list is a work in progress, and Herb Bread is the clearest reminder of that — I have not locked down its price or effects yet, so those fields wait to be filled in. As I test more combinations and pin down the Miller’s post-curse pricing behavior, I will keep expanding this page. For now, the numbers above are enough to keep your oven busy and your pockets a little heavier.
