A quick reference for how to read the serial codes and maybe some orientating tips for those starting. Not meant to be comprehensive. Not an endings guide.
The Basics
1: Buy organs, sell them from cargo when their price is higher than their purchase price
2: Fulfill requests
3: Play the market
I’ll go through each of these sections and mention a few things I’ve noticed.
- Buying and selling organs directly
Early game this is much less important. Later in the game you get access to organs with higher price variance, larger cargo sizes, and organs with abilities that cause more price changes. It can still be useful to sell excess organs or price increased organs in your inventory if you accidentally purchase them (happens a lot). The game does tell you what your purchase price was, which is useful here, though sometimes selling fast for inventory space is worth more than the meager payout. - Fulfilling Requests
This is one of the most important aspects of the game. Mentaur Minter doesn’t explain it well, but it is definitely possible to lose money on requests if the payout is less than the purchase cost. Requests are how the story progresses in the game, though I wont go into that here. For the most part rapidly accepting requests and fulfilling them as fast as possible is a good early strategy, and it increases reputation as well. - The Market
This seems to be the biggest cash grab available, though it can be a bit slow. Save some money, wait for a large organ shipment to tank prices of an organ, then invest it all there and wait for the prices to go up again. Even if you just wait for the price to normalize instead of increase this can lead to huge profits.
Barcode Cheat Sheet
#02C-50(A-)-1-0
Breakdown of each section:
#02 = Market number, tells you which organ
C = Organ Size
-50 = Condition
(A-) = Blood Type
-1 = Rarity
-0 = Meat/Special
So using the below tables we can see that this organ is:
- A liver
- Small
- Condition is 50
- Blood type is A negative
- Rarity is Rough
- It is considered meat
(will add more as I encounter them, then re-order them)
