Chocolate Factory Simulator: The Melanger Machines Guide

A quick and easy Guide on how to use the Melanger and its upgrades in Chocolate Factory Sim.

The Melanger

The first machine you will unlock is the Melanger.
With this you are able to create large batches of chocolate liquor, fillings, toppings and even ingredients ground from additives in one go.The Melanger without any Upgrades consists of the following parts:

  1. The Machine:

Hovering over this part of the Melanger will give you info about the machine’s condition, installed Upgrades as well as the currently set Temperature, Power Level and Consistency Level.

  2. The Control Lever:

On the right you will find the Control Lever.
Push it to start the machine and pull it to stop it when it’s ready.

  3. The Bowl:

This is where you add the Ingredients. It can hold a maximum of 5kg.
Looking at it will show you a list of its contents (in gramms), the weight in total and its Temperature.
Furthermore it shows if the machine was able to find a fitting Recipe for crafting.
Right below the Melanger’s Bowl you can find a spot to place a large bowl.

Tipp: Press Q while looking at the Bowl to see even more details about the Bowl’s contents.

  4. The Wheel Reel:

On the the left -connected to the bowl- the wheel reel is placed.
Rotate this towards you to empty the Bowl’s content into the large bowl.
To get the Bowl back in position you simply rotate the wheel in the opposite direction.

Make sure the Bowl is standing upwards after you emptied it or you will not be able to start the Melanger’s crafting process.

  5. The Bolts:

Like the other machines in the game the Melanger has multiple bolts.
Make sure to keep the Melanger in best condition by tighten them regularly as they will loosen up by using the machine.
The longer the machine runs the more loose the Bolts get.
To fix this just use the Wrench.

    The Bolts are located:

    • two on the side (left of the Wheel Reel)
    • one in the middle (right of the Bowl)
    • one on the Power Level Controller Module (upgrade)
    • one on the Temperature Controller Module (upgrade)
    • one on top of the Bowl on the Consistency Controller Module (upgrade)

Making Chocolate using the Melanger

In the beginning…
you will be able to only create a very small range of chocolate types
in the Melanger as you can not set a different power level or temperature than default.Without any upgrade the Melanger is set to optimal Power Level and a Temperature of 46°C.

It is not possible to make Ruby Chocolate or Vegan Chocolate
without the Power Level Controller Upgrade
as those need to be crafted on a higher Power Level.

It is NOT recommended to add any additives to the Melanger as this will mess with the additives’ Consistency and Ratio in the pressed bars.
Instead add the additives to the Press’ mold directly.

Ingredients and Measurements

To get the right Measurements it’s best to use the Recipe Book’s calculator function.
Just add the needed amount of chocolate per bar and the amount of chocolate bars to make.

Next step is to add all the needed Ingredients to the Melanger’s bowl.
Don’t worry if you are off by a couple gramms as the recipe will succeed as long as it is recognized by the Melanger.

BUT keep in mind:
Less Ingredients = Less chocolate

So if you try to get an exact ammount of chocolate for an order make sure you end up with enough chocolate liquor.

Do not add additives to the Melanger during the process of making chocolate
as it will grind them down completely thereby messing up the consistency
and turning it into an unusable mass.

Temperature

(upgrade needed)
With all the ingredents in the Bowl you now want to set the correct Temperatur.
As the Game currently rounds up the digits on the Temperature Controller’s display
you are best to go for a Temperature in the middle of the Recipe’s range or at least 1°C higher
than the lower end of the Temperature range

For Example:
If the Recipe tells you to set a temperature between 50 and 55°C aim for 53°C to be on the safe side.

Power Level

(upgrade needed)
To create some chocolates and to increase your chocolate’s quality
you need to set the Melanger’s Power Level correctly.
“Optimal” is the minimum Power Level for most chocolate types
unless the Recipe says different.

If everything is set correctly the Melanger should recognize the Recipe automatically.
Now you can start the process by pushing the Control Lever.
When it’s done you will get a notification and hear a whisteling sound.

The higher the Power Level is set the shorter the process will run.
So make sure you turn off the Melanger right after it’s done or your Chocolate
will turn into an unusable mass.

Upgrade: Power Level Controller Module

To creat some of the types of chocolate or increase your chocolate’s quality
you will need to add the Power Level Controller Module to the Melanger.
This Upgrade allows you to set a higher or lower Power Level if needed.
Just move the Weight of the Module to the left or the right. There are four Power Levels to set your Melanger to:

  • Suboptimal (green)
  • Optimal (yellow)
  • Overload (orange)
  • Crytical (red)

Optimal is the minimum Power Level for most chocolate types
unless the recipe says different.
Every Level above Optimal will increase your products quality by one
but will also raise the Power needed to run the Melanger.

Optimal → Basic
Overload → Refined
Crytical → Artistian

A higher Power Level will need more Power to run the Melanger.
For more Power you can burn higher quality coal and open the Air Flow Vent of your Furnace. (upgrade needed)

Tipp: A full Ash Pit can lower the Power output of your Furnace so make sure you or Nougat clean it regularly.

Upgrade: Temperature Controller Module

Many types of chocolate need a different Level of Temperature.
To set the Temperature correctly you need to add the Temperature Controller Module
to the machine.Change the Temperatur of the Melanger by rotating the valve below the Temperature Display.

To the left → Higher Temperature
To the right → Lower Temperature

The numbers on the Display are round up so you should set the temperature at least 1°C higher than the lower Temperature of the Recipe is as the 50°C displayed can also be 49,9°C
and therefore too low to process your chocolate.

The maximum Temperature for the Melanger to reach is 100°C.
You can’t make Caramel as an Ingredient in the Melanger because of this.

Upgrade: Consistency Controller Module

With the help of the Consistency Controller Module you can grind
large ammounts of additives at the same time.
Just set the Machine to the desired consistency by rotating the valve
on top of the Melanger’s Bowl and run the Melanger once.
The set Level will automaticall snap to the closest Consistency Level.
Those are from bottom to top:→ Off/ Whole
→ Coarse
→ Medium
→ Fine
→ Very Fine

By this you can grind additives or make Almond Flour
in amounts higher than 150g in one go.

Afterwards make sure to turn off the Module as it can interfere with your crafting process and
turn your product into an unusable mass.
