This guide aims to provide a thorough walkthrough of the game Banebush, detailing each chapter, the decisions that shape the game’s multiple endings, and a comprehensive list of achievements.
Introduction
I’m going to give a chapter by chapter guide, rundown on the endings, and a list of achievements
Tips:
- The red saturation can be turned down, but that’s no fun
- Once you read text, you can skip it for repeat playthroughs. You can also skip the sections where you examine items
- This game has six endings. One of them happens early and the final, and debatably happiest, requires a very specific path
Chapter-by-Chapter Guide
When the game starts, you’re given a choice as to whether or not to tone done the redness. For the the Very Red achievement, leave it as is, at maximum red
Chapter 1
- After the intro, we get Welcome to Our Village
- Choice 1: Look Around vs Enter
- Enter will just continue the game, but Look Around will give you 20:31 later and will give you a chance to get the knife
- If you Look Around, you’ll approach the stump, then choose whether or not to to Take or Leave the Knife. Taking it will affect further choices and give you the Sharp Find achievement
- Inside the house, examine the Old Soviet TV, the Photo, and the Gas Stove to continue
- Ignite the Kettle
- Forest Dream: Left, Straight, vs Right. As you were told, go straight with no turns. Turning will not lead to a bad end, as we can’t die in a memory, but it will stall you
- When awake, Turn Off the kettle, then Look at the window
- Look again, then Knock? to conclude the chapter and get Villager
Chapter 2
- Choice 2: Apple Tree vs Shop
- Apple Tree route
- Apple Tree, Climb, then Pluck
- You’ll be taken to a mini game where you have to rapidly click In the blue mark on the apple to fill the bar.
- Failing will force you to head to the store route. Succeeding will take you to Grandma Nyaru’s house. Examine the Calendar with an Icon, the Chair, and the Creepy Doll.
- Choice 3: Came to my Grandmother’s house vs Looking to buy a house in your village
- Looking to Buy a House upsets her and locks you into the That Was Quick Ending
- Saying that you came for your Grandmother’s house will let you Take the Book of Monsters and the Banebrush and Sweet Apples
- Choice: 4 Say Goodbye vs Point to the Sky
- Both keep you moving with the Apples, but Pointing to Sky makes her happy and gets you the Holy Dandelion achievement
- Store Route
- Approach, Open twice
- Look it, Open, Radio Puzzle
- The goal is to connect all five red circles to all five squares, making use of all pieces. For an achievement, you need to do it quickly, which is easier after you’ve done it once. Once completed, Electrician by Calling
- Turn on
- After talking to Stepan, you’ll be shown an image of a dancing cat. Sit there for about a minute for Cat Fan and sit there for an hour for Big Cat Fan!
- After That, examine the Bottle with Murky Liquid, the Photo, the Boar Taxidermy, and the Tool Kit
- Choice 5: Came to my grandmothers house vs looking to buy a house. Looking to buy a house is necessary for the Faithful Servant ending
- Take Bagel
- Both routes converge back at the house. If you have the knife, you get another choice
- Choice 6: Fight Back vs Stay Silent
- If you Fight Back, you’ll get Not Much of A Fightjng Spirit and lose the knife
- Stay Silent continues the game and lets you keep the knife.
- To the Forest, Creatures Nearby, and chapter ends
Chapter 3
- If you have the knife, you get a choice
- Choice 7: Open the Trap or Leave the Wolf
- Open only works if you have the knife. If you choose to open it, you’ll be taken to a click mashing game. If you fail, you’ll simply be asked to try again, but you only get one additional choice. Failing once, assuming you told Stefan that you’re looking for a house, then freeing it calms the wolf and gives you Forest Friend. Failing twice forces you to leave the wolf
- Choice 8: Eat it or Not
- No, for Enough Stories for Today. If you have the knife, That Hurt. What happens next depends on whether or not you freed the wolf. If you did not free the wolf, you get the Death In Solitude ending. If you freed the wolf, Death in Company
- Eat it for I Get the Hint the next choice
- Choice 9: Pay vs Refuse
- If the wolf was not calmed and freed, Pay, then Enter, Look, and Open for the Insane Ending. If the Wolf was calmed and freed, Pay will lead to the Faithful Servant Ending
- Refuse, for the forth ending, Cowardly Hare
Endings
Learn nothing about the Leshy in Chapter 2 and die before you reach the woods. Choose the Apple Tree, successfully pick the apple, then upset Grandma Nyura by saying you’re looking to buy a house2. Death in Solitude

3. Death In Company
Get the knife in Chapter 1, make it Chapter 3, free the Wolf, then choose not to eat the Fly Agaric
4. Cowardly Hare
Make it to Chapter 3, eat the Fly Agaric, then Refuse Banebush
5. Insane

On Day 2, head to the store and tell Stepan you’re here to buy and house and he’ll tell you the story of how his uncle was allegedly accepted by the forest and heard wolf howls. In Chapter 3, choose to free the wolf, but fail the game once so you can talk to it. Succeed on the second try. Refuse to eat the Fly Agaric, then Pay Banebrush and the wolf will come to your aid
