Hello Neighbor 2: All Characters Guide

This guide will go over each character that will/might appear in Hello Neighbor 2, and so players can get a feel for who they are and how they may work. Basically just some background information on the characters.

Quentin
Quentin will be the central protagonist and character you control in Hello Neighbor 2. He runs a news outlet, presumably by himself, called The Raven Brooks Banner, which acts as the town’s main news station. It appears as if he has an obsession with tracking down the Guest. He also appears to have nightmares of the Guest attacking him, even while driving at night. The game’s plot, as we know, follows Quentin as he attempts to link Mr. Peterson to the disappearances around town, while also clearing up the suspicion about others such as the Mayor or Taxidermist. Quentin appears to have a dull relationship with the police, as they simply stare at him and want him to go away, with Nielsen attempting to kick him out if he tries to sneak around Mr. Peterson’s house. Instead of stacking boxes, Quentin is able to climb and jump over objects in his way. Originally, Quentin was a security guard in Hello Guest before being switched for a journalist for Hello Neighbor 2.

The Guest
The Guest is an antagonist in the upcoming Hello Neighbor 2, if not the main antagonist. He appears to be a man dressed in a crow or raven costume, who lurks in the shadows and kidnaps people, children and adults alike. His goals and intentions are unknown, but he seems to be well-known in Raven Brooks as there are carvings of him around the town in Hello Neighbor: Reset Day. Inside the beak of the Guest in Hello Neighbor 2 is a golden apple, which he pulls out when sitting on a chair. According to Nikita, the Guest loves to keep his golden apple and won’t let anyone take it from him. In Hello Neighbor: Reset Day, the Guest is described to emit a smoky smell to the people around him. He has a hooked beak and strands of feathers on his limbs. Under the beak is a mustache, and the Guest has giant limbs. He has talons on his hands. He can morph into different people based on who he’s communicating with. The Guest’s first chronological appearance is in the 2nd graphic novel. He takes what he wants from people. He creates an imaginary dog for the protagonist, and reveals to her it’s fake. In Hello Neighbor: Reset Day, the Guest has kidnapped Enzo Esposito. Enzo’s sister, Maritza, is looking after Enzo’s two kids. At the end of the book, the Guest kidnaps Piper Tillman’s Mother. It is unknown why the Guest kidnaps people, but he most likely causes the time loops happening in Raven Brooks. At the end of the story, the Guest messages Piper telling her she has nowhere to run, and sends her an image of the one and only Theodore Peterson, ready to find her. In Hello Guest, he runs rampantly around the Golden Apple Amusement Park, and interferes with Quentin/Beatrix’s work. He appears in Alpha 1 as the main and only threat who attempts to keep the player out of Mr. Peterson’s house. He follows the same behavior in Alpha 1.5 as well. In the Beta, he roams around the darkness and knocks over a dummy Quentin set up outside a barn so he could get a photo of him. The Guest then busts the barn doors down and captures Quentin, revealing it to be a nightmare. He finally appears at the end of the Beta as a silhouette behind Quentin. The Guest’s design was based off of a schnabelperchten. Schnabelperchtens are part of a German tradition where people in bird outfits enter houses and make “ga” sounds.

Theodore Masters Peterson (The Neighbor)
Mr. Peterson, also infamously known as the Neighbor, will reappear in Hello Neighbor 2 as a central antagonist. After the events of Act 2 from the original game, he went missing when the police attempted to locate him. He has stayed hidden in the shadows and away from the police. Now he resides in an abandoned museum, across the street from The Raven Brooks Banner. A local journalist, named Quentin, or the character you control, suspects that Peterson is up to the strange disappearances around town lately. He thinks Peterson is connected to three individual missing children’s cases. Aaron and Mya Peterson, his son and daughter, and Nicholas Michael Roth, the main character from the first game. If you’ve played the previous two games, then you’ll know what happened to Nicky and Mya. Aaron’s fate, however, is completely unknown. Upon entering the museum, you can hear the faint sobbing of a child. Once the attic is opened, Quentin is supposedly caught by the Guest. Behind the curtain at the end of the Beta is none other than a cardboard cutout of a boy. It is heavily implied in book #7 and heavily theorized that Peterson is the Guest. Do you have the guts to uncover Mr. Peterson’s biggest and darkest secret yet?

Mr. Otto (The Taxidermist)
Mr. Otto, also known as the Taxidermist, is a character introduced in the first devlog for Hello Neighbor 2. He lives in a small yellow house and he hates intruders. He wields a rifle, that he uses to shoot wooden carvings he creates, which he then sets up on a target outside his house. He won’t hesitate to use it against you if you invade his property. He crafts ducks out of wood to use for target practice outside his house. He has animal skulls and a stuffed bear in his territory, giving him the name, the Taxidermist. If the player is shot by his gun, it will act similarly to the gun from the first game and its Alphas. Although he seems to be useful for only one puzzle, to obtain the fish head, he may have a larger role in the game when it fully releases.

Officer Keith Nielsen
Officer Nielsen is one of the two police officers introduced for Hello Neighbor 2. Not much is known about him. All that is known is that he was a policeman ever since he finished the police academy school, and that he has lived in Raven Brooks his whole life. He also really loves his job and is close to being retired. He loves donuts, like all cops should, and he works alongside his partner, Leslie. More likely a coincidence, but his appearance is similar to Tim Lockwood from the film Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs. His and Officer Leslie’s names are references to The Naked Gun: From the Files of the Police Squad! protagonist actor, Leslie Nielsen.

The Mayor
The Mayor is a character introduced in the first devlog for Hello Neighbor 2. The Mayor lives with his dog, Skipper, in a white mansion. He owns a jukebox which he listens to jazz and dance music on, even occasionally dancing to it. He can also sit at his dining table and feast. The player is able to put him to sleep with a sleep music disk, which then allows them to obtain the bear head. Despite having a minor role in the Beta, he may have a larger role in the full release of the game.

Gerda (The Baker)
Gerda, also known as the Baker, is a character introduced in the first devlog for Hello Neighbor 2. She works and appears to live in a small bakery next to the museum. She will not attack or become mad at the player unless they jump over the counter or enter the kitchen area. The player must sneak into the kitchen to grab a lock pick to then use to gain access to a pretzel-shaped key needed to open a door in the museum. Beyond this door is a fridge with the boar’s head in it. Despite having a somewhat minute role in the Beta, she may have a larger role in the game’s full release.

Officer Leslie
Officer Leslie is one of the two police officers introduced for Hello Neighbor 2. He is an upcoming character for the game as well. Unlike Officer Nielsen, he hates his job, he wants to be in a big city instead of the town of Raven Brooks, and he can’t function without coffee instead of donuts. He always tries so desperately not to fall asleep on the job. He isn’t very committed compared to his partner. Although they are not connected, he slightly resembles Nicky as an adult. His and Officer Nielsen’s names are references to The Naked Gun: From the Files of the Police Squad! protagonist actor, Leslie Nielsen.

The Man In the Hat
The Man in the Hat is an unknown character who is said to appear in Hello Neighbor 2. He seems to be a minor antagonist, who is always watching from the shadows, observing. He first appeared in Secret Neighbor in an update, on bulletin boards and in bushes outside the house. He then appeared in Hello Guest observing from afar, and then in the ending where he attempts to arrest either Quentin or Beatrix, depending on who the player chose to play. He then appeared in Hello Neighbor 2 Alpha 1 in a cable car watching Quentin, and then in the ending in the background close to Mr. Peterson while looking out the attic. His final appearance was in Alpha 1.5, where he retains the same role as in Alpha 1. The Man in the Hat may have slightly been inspired by the G-man from the Half-Life series, as they are both mysterious characters who watch from afar and in out-of-reach places. He hasn’t appeared in the Hello Neighbor 2 Beta as of now, but he will most likely appear in the game’s final release.

Beatrix
Beatrix was one of the protagonists in Hello Guest before it was changed to Hello Neighbor 2. She works at the Golden Apple Amusement Park as a security guard fending off Vandals and the Guest, depending on if the player chose her and not Quentin. In Alpha 1.5, a drawing of Beatrix’s eyepatch could be seen in Quentin’s notepad. Beatrix gets her design from “Tattoo Girl”, a character drawn in 2017 by Nikita, the creator of Hello Neighbor. The cat pin she wears is an Easter-egg to the lead artist of the game, Elena Berezina (aka Sharandula). Similarly to the Vandals and Imbir, it is not know as to what happened to her, and if she’ll return when the full game is released.

The Farmer
The Farmer is a character who was introduced in the first devlog for Hello Neighbor 2. Besides his concept art image, he has not had an official model yet. He is said to be an upcoming character though. The most interesting thing about him is that he has a syringe in his pocket.

Vandals
The Vandals were minor enemies in Hello Guest and they briefly appeared in Hello Neighbor 2 Alphas 1 and 1.5. They appear to be teenage boys, who sneak around at night and cause mischief. They wear dark hoodies and creepy masks to conceal their identities. In Hello Guest, they would run around and attempt to damage and/or break the amusement park. Quentin or Beatrix would then have to scare them off with his/her flashlight. In Hello Neighbor 2 Alphas 1 and 1.5, a large pile of shoes, resembling the one’s that the Vandals wore, could be found in Mr. Peterson’s house and outside a dilapidated building, and one Vandal physically appears in a cable car next to the one with the Man in the Hat. Underneath their masks, is a beak, which hints that they may be followers of the Guest. Just like Beatrix and Imbir, it is a mystery as to what happened to them, and if they’ll appear in the full release of the game.

Guest Kid, Pumpkin Kid, & Alien Kid

Guest Kid:

He is a boy wearing a crow costume similar to the Guest himself. His costume appeared at the end of Alpha 1, where the player had to interact with it to end the game. He appeared physically towards the end of Alpha 1.5, where he was revealed to be the only real child out of the three kidnapped by the Guest. The player was tasked with finding candy and placing it into a bag to lure him closer to the door. His costume also makes an appearance in the basement in the beta.

Pumpkin Kid:

They are a kid wearing overalls and a pumpkin head. They are also commonly seen holding a flashlight. They first appeared in Alpha 1.5, where they were kidnapped by the Guest and locked in the attic alongside the two other children. Once making it to the attic, they were revealed to be made out of hay, which implies that they were fake. They also briefly appeared in the Beta in the museum locked inside a glass case.

Alien Kid:

They are a kid wearing an alien head and a green dress. They first appeared in Alpha 1.5, where they were kidnapped by the Guest and locked in the attic alongside the two other children. Once making it to the attic, they were revealed to be made out of hay, which implies that they were fake.

Skipper
Skipper is a French bulldog wearing a striped collar onesie. He belongs to the Mayor, who has him guard the entrance to his mansion and key. His role is similar to the Sharkotron from the first game and its Alphas.

Imbir
Imbir is a cat with a red woolly hat knitted on its head. It appeared in Hello Guest as an Easter egg out of reach, it appeared in Hello Neighbor 2 Alpha 1 as an NPC that would sit on a bench by the lake, wander around, and even go to other places on the map to look around, and it appeared in Hello Neighbor Alpha 1.5 with the same functionality but while wearing a Rudolph hat. Similarly to Beatrix and the Vandals, they may or may not appear in the full game’s release.

DLC
There are three known DLCs for Hello Neighbor 2. These include Back to School, Late Fees, and Hello-Copter. A character known as the Janitor will be the main antagonist in the Back to School DLC, and a character known as the Librarian will be the main antagonist in the Late Fees DLC. It is unknown what will take place in the Hello-Copter DLC.
